Amazon.co.uk Review
Critics and controversy aside, The Da
Vinci Code is a verifiable blockbuster. Combine the film's huge
worldwide box-office take with over 100 million copies of Dan Brown's
book sold, and The Da Vinci Code has clearly made the leap from
pop-culture hit to a certifiable franchise (games and action figures are
sure to follow). The leap for any story making the move from book to big
screen, however, is always more perilous. In the case of The Da Vinci
Code, the story is concocted of such a preposterous formula of
elements that you wouldn't envy Akiva Goldsman, the screenwriter who was
handed a potentially unfilmable book and asked to make a filmable script
out of it. Goldsman's solution was to have the screenplay follow the
book as closely as... Read

kredittkort, uten noensomhelst problemer.

The special blend of animation and
live action, dazzling dances and award-winning songs make this film a
joyful, timeless classic. Julie Andrews stars as a nanny who makes chores
fun, and has a passion for magical trips. Dick Van Dyke stars as a chimney
sweep with a heart of gold
A novice nun becomes governess to a
widowed Baron's children. She turns them into a family singing group and

The American Civil War caused much
bitterness which was prolonged well after hostilities had ceased. This film,
which established Elvis as a movie star, concentrates on romance and
jealousy in the aftermath of America's bloodiest period of history. The
soundtrack features four Presley hits:
Amazon.co.uk Review
Elvis Presley's seventh film was the first of his "Hawaii trilogy" (a group completed by Girls! Girls! Girls! and Paradise, Hawaiian Style). While its story is daft--the King has just been released from his army-posting in Italy and returned to the islands, where he's trying to avoid working in his father's fruit business--the music, including "Blue Hawaii," "Almost Always True" and the beautiful "Can't Help Falling in Love", is not. Angela Lansbury plays Elvis's mother, who can't seem to get through to him. The film is directed by Elvis's frequent collaborator, Norman Taurog. --Tom Keogh
Jan Morrow (Doris Day) and Brad
Allen (Rock Hudson) have never met, but they are sworn enemies because of
one small appliance in their lives: the telephone. The two share a party
line, and Jan is outraged over the amount of time Bill spends wooing women
over the phone. A convenient triangle emerges when a client (Tony Randall)
of Jan's--she's an interior decorator--falls in love with her and happens to
be Brad's old college chum
An adaptation of the literary
classic book by Lewis Carroll. This is the story of Alice who starts to
daydream and sees a white rabbit who appears to be in a hurry. Alice follows
him and falls down the rabbit's hole and there she enters a bizarre, magical
world where nothing is as it seems...
Classic Disney tale of a young

away from his mother and separated from the rest of the circus animals. He
is befriended by Timothy Q. Mouse who persudes him to make the most of what

Peter Pan has a special place
in the realm of classic animated Disney films: it instils an element of
child-like wonder. The 1953 version of James M Barrie's story is colourfully
told and keeps on the straight and narrow of the book

This Disney masterpiece from 1940
will hold up forever precisely because it doesn't restrain or temper the
most elemental emotions and themes germane to its story. Based on the
Collodi tale about a wooden puppet who wants to become a real boy, Pinocchio
is among the most magical, mythical and frightening films to come from the
studio in its long history. A number of scenes make permanent impressions on
young minds (just ask Steven Spielberg, who quoted the film more than once
in Close Encounters of the Third Kind), and the songs ("When You
Wish upon a Star") can't be beat

This is the first movie I have ever seen and it
was love at first sight. Since then I've watched it a hundred times or so and
collected the video in many languages. Cinderella is wonderful, funny and
rich. I know that many people remember it for the mice and Lucifer, but look
at the human figures: they're (with the exception of the Prince) perfect and
truly convincing. For example the relationship between Cinderella and the
stepmother is strongly rendered and it's clear that the girl fears that woman.
The sequence of the fairy godmother is one of the best of all Disney films
(what a dream the transformation of the dress) and the ball episode is
exciting and fascinating in both drawing (note the use of the shadows at a
time when computer coloring was far away), dialogue and music (the Cinderella
Waltz "So this is love" is enchanting).

Review
A truly perfect movie, the 1942 Casablanca still wows viewers today,
and for good reason. Its unique story of a love triangle set against
terribly high stakes in the war against a monster is sophisticated instead
of outlandish, intriguing instead of garish. Humphrey Bogart plays the
allegedly apolitical club owner in unoccupied French territory that is
nevertheless crawling with Nazis; Ingrid Bergman is the lover who
mysteriously deserted him in Paris; and Paul Heinreid is her heroic,
slightly bewildered husband. Claude Rains, Sydney Greenstreet, Peter Lorre,
and Conrad Veidt are among what may be the best supporting cast in the
history of Hollywood films. This is certainly among the most spirited and
ennobling movies ever made

King Creole is based on the Harold
Robbins novel, “A Stone For Danny Fisher,” the story of a tough young
man from Bourbon Street, New Orleans. His name is Danny Fisher (Presley),
and he works as a busser in a nightclub to help support his family. After
being thrown out of high school, Danny gets in with a bad bunch of guys and
agrees to help them rob a five and dime store by singing in order to create
a diversion.

A musical version of Neil Simon's
Broadway hit with Shirley Maclaine in the title role of a dance-hall hostess
who dreams of old-fashioned romance but gives her heart to undeserving men
In 1955 this lavish production of

after his children, was the most expensive film ever mounted by 20th Century

Howard Roark is expelled from
college because of the way he thinks as an architect but eventually he finds

No film better utilises Audrey
Hepburn's flighty charm and svelte beauty than this romantic adaptation of
Truman Capote's novella.
Hepburn's urban sophisticate Holly Golightly, an enchanting neurotic living
off the gifts of gentlemen, is a bewitching figure in designer dresses and
costume jewellery. George Peppard is her upstairs neighbour, a struggling
writer and "kept" man financed by a steely older woman (Patricia
Neal). His growing friendship with the lonely Holly soon turns to love and
threatens the delicate balance of both of their compromised lives. Taking
liberties with Capote's bittersweet story, director Blake Edwards and
screenwriter George Axelrod turn New York into a city of lovers and create a
poignant portrait of Holly, a frustrated romantic with a secret past and a
hidden vulnerability. Composer Henry Mancini earned Oscars for the hit song
"Moon River" and his tastefully romantic score
Audrey Hepburn is the delightful,
young, eponymous Sabrina, the daughter of a chauffeur who is hopelessly in
love with David Larrabee (William Holden), the playboy younger son in the
rich Long Island household her father works for. In order to help her forget
her woes, Sabrina is shipped off to...
Gentlemen Prefer Blondes,
Anita Loos' old story from the 1920s about a pair of single women in search
of husbands, gets a makeover in Howard Hawks' 1953 musical. The remake stars
Jane Russell and Marilyn Monroe as two friends who go to Paris looking for
mates.
Comic capers for two men who witness
a gangland slaying and have to leave town in a hurry. They join a train full
of travelling female musicians and become members of the band. Includes the

A western tale, set in the days of
the California Gold Rush, in which Miss Monroe appears as a saloon singer
who falls into the capable arms of Robert Mitchum after she is cruelly
abandoned by her husband, Calhoun.
Days Of Wine and Roses was nominated
for five Oscars and received one for its haunting Henry Mancini/Johnny
Mercer title song. It endures as a harrowing, poignant portrait of human
lives at their nadir. And moviemaking at its height.
A prostitute called Irma falls in
love with an English lord who is not all he appears to be. The lord is
really Irma's business manager who wants to keep her all to himself.
A man who defies the Romans brings
tragedy to himself and his family. Set against the back-drop of the life of
Jesus. Winner of eleven Academy Awards. This biblical epic is best
remembered for its breath-taking chariot race. Based on a novel by Lew
Wallace. Includes the original theatrical trailer.
Stanley Kubrick was only 31 years
old when Kirk Douglas (star of Kubrick's classic Paths of Glory)
recruited the young director to pilot this epic saga, in which the
rebellious slave Spartacus (played by Douglas) leads a freedom revolt
against the ailing Roman Republic and its generals.
The
original Planet of the Apes is that rarity of the genre: a science
fiction film that has dated not one bit: its intelligent script, frightening
costuming, and savagely effective conclusion (which needs no big-budget
special effects to augment its impact) remain both potent and relevant. When
Colonel George Taylor (the fabulous Charlton Heston) crash lands his
spacecraft on what seems to be an unfamiliar planet, he is captured and held
prisoner by a dominant race of rational, articulate apes. However, the ape
community is riven with internal dissension, centred in no small part on its
policy toward humans, who, on this planet, are treated as mindless animals.
Befriended and ultimately assisted by the more liberal simians, Taylor
escapes--only to find a more terrifying obstacle confronting his return
home. Heavy-handed object lessons abound--the ubiquity of generational
warfare, the inflexibility of dogma, the cruelty of prejudice--and the
didactic finger prints of The Twilight Zone's Rod Serling are very
much in evidence here. But director Franklin Schaffner has a dark,
pop-apocalyptic sci-fi vision all of his own, helped along by Jerry
Goldsmith's terrifyingly avant-garde score. And time has not dulled the
monumental emotional impact of the film's climactic payoff shot.
The story of a rebellious farmboy
who finds himself facing a man-slaughter charge. To complicate matters he
becomes involved with three beautiful women from the Shenandoah Valley
Holly Martins (Joseph Cotten) is an
alcoholic pulp writer come to visit his old friend Harry Lime (Orson
Welles). But when Cotton first arrives in Vienna, Lime's funeral is under
way and he finds that his friend has been killed in a strange accident.
En ødødelig klassiker, med en like udødelig melodi:
Temaet fra Den tredje mann
Acclaimed as the greatest movie of
all time, the story parallels the career and death of William Randolph
Hearst, the newspaper tycoon. Also features 'Reflections On Citizen Kane' a
special documentary.
Possibly the best musical......ever!!!!!!!!!, 10 October, 2002
Reviewer: Richenda from England
Although I may be a little biased {Being a big
fan of both Howard Keel, Doris Day and musicals in general} I still think
this is one fantastic film and worth watching more than once.
The acting although may be stylised engages
you in the action and you find yourself always singing along to the
wonderful songs. It is a lovely story even if a little difficult to believe
at times, but isn't that the point of musicals, to get caught up in a make
believe world that always has a happy ending?
If you like your films with a happy ending,
wonderful stars and a whole lot of singing, dancing and gun slinging then
this is the movie for you. If you don't, give it a try, you never know you
may learn to love it.

Vår favorittvideo!
PS
First-rate
Disney adventure based on Jules Verne's prophetic novel. Winner of two
Academy Awards.
Amazon.co.uk Review
The swashbuckler genre bumped into science fiction in 1954 for one of
Hollywood's great entertainments. The Jules Verne story of adventure under
the sea was Walt Disney's magnificent debut into live-action films. A
professor (Paul Lukas) seeks the truth about a legendary sea monster....

Young at Heart: This 1954
musical remake of Four Daughters stars Doris Day as a well-bred
New England woman who marries a chip-on-his-shoulder musician (Frank
Sinatra).
The Thrill of It All: Doris plays the wife of an obstetrician

job selling soap on TV
Lover Come Back: Rock Hudson and Doris Day had one of the
sweetest chemistries in the movies--as demonstrated in several light
comedies, including this film's predecessor, 1959's Pillow Talk
In 'On Moonlight Bay' a tomboy
discovers romance. The tracklist includes: 'On Moonlight Bay' and 'I'm
Forever Blowing Bubbles'. 'By The Light Of The Silvery Moon' finds the
Winfield family facing problems when their daughter's soldier-boyfriend
returns home. 'Tea For Two' tells what happens when an heiress has a bet
with her Uncle, a stockbroker, that she can forget the stock markets for
twenty-four hours.
High Society
(Bing Crosby,
Louis Armstrong, Grace Kelly, Frank Sinatra)
On The Town
In 'Anchors Aweigh' a couple of
sailors on a four-day pass meet up with a Hollywood 'extra' who wants to
be a star and the naval buddies decide to help. 'High Society' is a
musical remake of 'The Philadelphia Story' which finds an heiress torn
between a former husband and her new fiance. 'On The Town' is the
musical story of three sailors enjoying a one-day holiday in New York
In 'Psycho'
a series of murders take place at a lonely motel. The deaths are
attributed to the mother of the young owner... 'Rear
Window' tells the story of a man confined to his apartment
with a broken leg and to pass the time he spies on his neighbours. He
suspects one of them of murder and must try to convince non-believers. 'Vertigo'
tells the story of detective who falls in love with the woman he is
assigned to follow, only to see her commit suicide... or so he thinks...
